Take-Two Interactive Reports $6.7 Billion in Net Bookings Driven by Mobile
Take-Two Interactive announced a significant increase in net bookings, which grew by 19% in fiscal year 2026, surpassing $6.7 billion, up from $5.7 billion in the previous year. Mobile gaming was a substantial contributor, generating $3.3 billion of the total. This growth follows the successful acquisition of Zynga in 2022, with mobile bookings rising annually since then. Zynga reported record net bookings post-acquisition, further underscoring mobile's importance to Take-Two.
Although mobile's share of overall net bookings slightly declined from 51% to 49%, due to increased contributions from PC and console games, it remains a vital segment. Take-Two's fourth quarter exceeded expectations, generating nearly $1.6 billion, thanks in part to popular franchises like Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption, alongside strong mobile performance.
Zynga's titles, including FarmVille 3 and Words With Friends, contributed to these results, with Rollic Games also noted for amassing over 3.9 billion lifetime installs across its games. Take-Two's chairman and CEO, Strauss Zelnick, highlighted the year-over-year growth of games like Toon Blast, which increased by approximately 25%, and Color Block Jam, which grew by 15%, achieving 66.7 million downloads.
Recurrent consumer spending across Take-Two’s mobile portfolio rose by 13%, while total recurrent spending across platforms grew by 17%, accounting for 78% of net bookings. The company's GAAP net revenue reached nearly $6.7 billion, an 18% increase year-over-year, despite reporting an operating loss of $104 million due to high expenses.
Why it matters
Looking ahead, Zelnick expressed confidence in fiscal year 2027, anticipating further growth driven by the upcoming launch of Grand Theft Auto VI on November 19. Take-Two expects Zynga to contribute 35% of net bookings in the next fiscal year, just shy of Rockstar Games' expected contribution.
