Nigeria to Showcase Game Developers at Gamescom 2026

Nigeria will make its inaugural appearance at Gamescom 2026, sending its first-ever delegation of game developers to the event in Germany. This landmark participation includes the establishment of a dedicated Nigerian booth, providing local studios with direct access to international publishers, investors, and potential partners. The delegation is led by Hugo Obi, founder of Maliyo Games, and aims to highlight Nigeria's growing presence in the global gaming industry.

The opportunity for participation was secured during Lagos Games Week 2026, where Prosper Moses, founder and CEO of CodeBox Games, won the final spot in the delegation by showcasing his debut title, Hell Bleeds, at the Pitch Stage competition. As part of the reward, Moses will represent his studio at the Nigerian booth, exhibiting his game to an international audience.

Why it matters

This initiative signifies a strategic shift for Nigerian developers, as Obi emphasized the importance of establishing a presence on the global stage as creators and innovators. The move reflects the increasing momentum in Nigeria's gaming sector, which has garnered growing international interest as local studios transition from early development to launching commercial titles.
