Kabam has announced WB All-Star Mayhem, a licensed mobile idle RPG that will enter limited regional testing later this month on iOS and Android in select markets. The game opens with more than 100 playable characters drawn from nine Warner Bros. animated series, and Kabam has said it will add additional characters and worlds after launch.
The story centres on Brain from Pinky and the Brain, who seizes a Universal Remote that lets him hop into different television worlds and recruit villains to help him take over the universe. Players can assemble teams made up of characters from DC, Looney Tunes, Cartoon Network and other WB properties; the launch roster specifically includes Batman, Superman, the Teen Titans, Bugs Bunny, Scooby-Doo, Finn and Jake, and more. The nine featured franchises named for launch are Justice League Unlimited, Adventure Time, Looney Tunes, Teen Titans Go!, Animaniacs, Scooby-Doo, Steven Universe, Samurai Jack and The Powerpuff Girls.
WB All-Star Mayhem is being developed under licence from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Kabam is running the regional tests ahead of a wider release date that hasn’t been announced. Executive producer Sebastien Goode described the game as “a love letter to the golden eras of animated television,” and called it “the perfect companion game you can play anywhere, even while watching your favourite shows.” Kabam’s previous licensed work includes Marvel Contest of Champions, which the company says has generated more than $2 billion in mobile revenue.
Why it matters
If you want something concrete to tuck away: at launch you’ll get 100+ characters from nine named franchises, with Kabam promising more characters and worlds after release, and the studio is putting the game into limited iOS and Android tests later this month.
