PUBG Mobile Light launches in 2026; Love and Deepspace -68% spending drop

Key takeaways

  • PUBG Mobile Light is slated to launch in 2026
  • Love and Deepspace earned $10.3M in July, down from $34.2M in June
  • Makers Fund closed Fund IV at $250M; AUM now $1.5B
  • Germany’s FCO: Apple must redesign third-party consent pop-ups

PUBG Mobile Light will arrive in 2026 as a separate app that keeps the full battle-royale experience while reducing strain on players’ devices, PocketGamer reports. The release is distinct from PUBG Mobile Lite and aims to make the main game more accessible without trimming core features.

Love and Deepspace posted a dramatic downturn in July, with AppMagic estimating $10.3 million in player spending versus $34.2 million in June — a 68% month-on-month fall and the game’s weakest month for earnings. The drop was 59% in the US and 79% in China, and PocketGamer links part of the backlash to a scaled-back 6.0 update and controversy around a new character, Valko.

Makers Fund has closed its Fund IV at $250 million, taking the firm's assets under management to $1.5 billion and, the company says, investing in more than 90 portfolio companies so far. Bain & Company contributed two headline findings in a separate report: no single game experience appeals to more than 26% of players worldwide, and about three-quarters of top-grossing mobile games now operate their own web stores.

Germany’s Federal Cartel Office (FCO) reviewed Apple’s App Tracking Transparency framework and found its consent prompts may have advantaged Apple’s own apps. Under commitments with the FCO, Apple must redesign consent pop-ups for third-party apps to remove discouraging language and symbols, changing how consent is presented in that market.

Why it matters

Takeaway: a push toward lighter, device-friendly versions like PUBG Mobile Light and regulatory changes to consent UIs in Europe are both concrete shifts players and developers will see in coming months.
