StreamElements in Acquisition Talks, Scopely Celebrates 15 Years, Fortnite Returns

StreamElements, a provider of streaming tools, has confirmed it is in discussions with potential buyers amid ongoing speculation about layoffs and a possible shutdown. The company stated online, "We’re in positive discussions with potential acquirers and working to find the best path forward for creators, customers, and our team."

Scopely is celebrating 15 years of growth, evolving into a mobile gaming giant with a workforce of thousands across more than 30 countries. COO Eunice Lee reflected on the company's journey, stating, "Over the past 15 years, the biggest transformation has been how we think about games. The bar continues to rise. Players expect more consistency, deeper experiences, and stronger communities, and that pushes us to keep improving."

In another significant industry move, Sensor Tower has acquired rival AppMagic, which includes both the team and the platform. Sensor Tower's chief revenue officer, Tom Cui, emphasized that the acquisition focuses on enhancing options for small to medium-sized businesses.

The Mobile Mavens recently discussed rising barriers to entry in the mobile gaming market, noting that various factors, including platform fees and production costs, are making it increasingly expensive. HandyGames CEO Christopher Kassulke remarked, "The games market is changing every 180 days. Get used to it or leave. That’s why so many investors left the market."

Why it matters

Finally, Fortnite has made its return to the App Store globally, with Epic Games expressing confidence that governments will challenge Apple’s "junk fees." However, Australia remains an exception, though players there can still access Fortnite on iOS via the Epic Games Store.
