Supercell confirms Squad Busters closes Dec 14, store removal Dec 1

Key takeaways

  • Removed from App Store and Google Play on December 1
  • Playable until shutdown on December 14
  • App purchases disabled since October; transfer window closed end of 2025
  • AppMagic: ~$67.9M revenue from 58.6M downloads

Supercell has confirmed Squad Busters will be removed from the App Store and Google Play on December 1 and will stop being playable on December 14. Players who already have the game installed can continue playing until December 14, with all in-game events and timers ending on that date.

In-app purchases have been switched off since Supercell announced the end of Squad Busters development in October, and the window to transfer purchase value to other Supercell titles closed at the end of 2025. The studio said players will not be able to move new purchases because the store storefronts will be shut on December 1.

Supercell told MobileGamer.biz it could not see “a clear path forward” for the game after several reworks, including its Heroes update, and that further changes would have effectively made it a new game. The company also ruled out offline play, private servers, or releasing the game code, citing that Squad Busters contains content and characters from across Supercell’s other titles.

Squad Busters launched worldwide in May 2024; AppMagic estimates its lifetime revenue at roughly $67.9 million from 58.6 million downloads, with the United States accounting for about 30% of spending. Supercell said the Squad Busters team remains at the company, with most members already helping other teams. This closure arrives the same month as announced shutdowns for Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six Mobile and Fingersoft’s Lego Hill Climb Adventures.

Why it matters

If you still have Squad Busters installed, it’s playable through December 14 but without purchases; the only transfer window for earlier spend closed at the end of 2025, so December is strictly a final play-and-finish window rather than a buy-or-move opportunity.
