Sheba Joy Expands with New Office in Beijing

Sheba Joy, a mobile games and entertainment company, has launched a new research and development office in Beijing, China, to enhance its offerings in social gaming and entertainment products tailored for the Middle East. This new office will serve as an engineering hub to support the development of GCC-focused multiplayer social games, complementing the company’s existing operations in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The Beijing team, consisting of 12 members, will focus on frontend, backend, and server development for social games aimed at Arabic-speaking audiences in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). This strategic move is designed to leverage global development expertise while integrating local market insights to create engaging digital entertainment experiences for users in the region.

Sheba Joy's headquarters in Riyadh currently employs a nine-person team dedicated to casual puzzle games for a global audience. The expansion into Beijing aligns with the company's growth ambitions, especially after securing $293,000 in pre-seed funding last year to develop hit games from Saudi Arabia and enhance its operational capacity.

Why it matters

Faisal Al Hamed, founder and COO of Sheba Joy, emphasized the importance of combining gaming, social interaction, content creation, and community engagement in shaping the future of entertainment in the Middle East. He noted that establishing a presence in Beijing provides access to top talent in gaming and social entertainment, ensuring the company remains focused on the specific needs of Middle Eastern users.
