Pocket Worlds has acquired Hotel Hideaway, the mobile 3D social world developed by Finnish studio Sulake, bringing its social-world portfolio above 80 million registered users. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Pocket Worlds said Hotel Hideaway has more than 32 million registered users and roughly 300,000 monthly active players; players can continue using the app as normal while Pocket Worlds shares transition details with the community in the coming weeks.
Hotel Hideaway launched in 2018 and centers on fashion, collecting, status and live community events, with self-expression and social connection at its core. Pocket Worlds said it plans to bring its operating expertise in virtual economies, creators and community safety to the title. Pocket Worlds CEO Anton Bernstein called Hotel Hideaway "one of" the online communities that has a lasting culture, and said the company wants to invest in the game's core identity drivers such as fashion to help it reach "its next stage of growth."
Sulake’s product director Jarkko Kouva praised the role of players and the team in shaping Hotel Hideaway, and said Pocket Worlds "understands social worlds deeply" and shares Sulake's belief in self-expression, connection and community. The studio emphasized that Hotel Hideaway will remain available to players during the handover, with further communications aimed at the community expected from Pocket Worlds soon.
Why it matters
Takeaway: Hotel Hideaway joins Pocket Worlds’ existing titles such as Highrise and Everskies, pushing the combined registered-user count past 80 million, while Pocket Worlds prepares to apply its live-ops and creator-economy tools to a game that still maintains around 300,000 monthly active users. Expect operational updates and transition timelines to come directly from Pocket Worlds to the Hotel Hideaway community.
