PlanetPlay and UNICEF Collaborate on Gaming Initiative for Children
PlanetPlay has teamed up with UNICEF to launch a series of gaming initiatives aimed at supporting children. The first project, the PlayForEveryChild PC Games Collection, is set to debut in October 2026. While this initial collection will focus on PC games, future activations for mobile and console platforms are in the works, with announcements to come later.
The collaboration seeks to create fundraising and awareness campaigns that facilitate contributions from game studios, publishers, and players towards children's causes. PlanetPlay is currently inviting developers and platform partners to submit titles for inclusion in the upcoming collection. Notably, 100% of the net profits from this collection will be directed to UNICEF’s efforts in education, healthcare, climate resilience, and emergency response programs.
This initiative builds on PlanetPlay's earlier Play2Act program, launched in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme, which has engaged over 200,000 players across 190 countries since its inception in 2024. Rhea Loucas, CEO of PlanetPlay, emphasized the potential of games to unite people globally, stating, "This partnership with UNICEF shows what can be possible when that power is harnessed for global impact."
Why it matters
Andrew Todd, director of partnerships at UNICEF UK, acknowledged gaming as a catalyst for change, expressing hope that this partnership will create meaningful connections with players while providing accessible avenues for the gaming industry to contribute to children's welfare.
