Paramount Unifies Game Studios to Strengthen Franchise Strategy

Paramount has launched a new division, Paramount Games Studio, by consolidating its Paramount and Skydance game studios. This initiative aims to develop a range of games, from casual titles to triple-A experiences, with a focus on building long-term franchise platforms and cultivating fan communities around Paramount's intellectual properties.

The new division will include Skydance Interactive and Skydance New Media, led by Tony Driscoll, who will serve as president while also fulfilling his role as Executive Vice President of corporate strategy and development. Driscoll emphasized that the studio's approach is centered on creating games that nurture lasting fan communities and franchise ecosystems. He highlighted the potential of creator-driven platforms like Fortnite and Roblox, along with advancements in AI tools, as significant opportunities for companies with extensive IP portfolios.

Paramount Games Studio has assembled a leadership team experienced in game development, publishing, and entertainment. The executive team includes Dan Prigg as Executive Vice President and head of games, Shawn Kittelsen as Senior Vice President of creative and production, Andrea Silvers as Senior Vice President of marketing and communications, Kara Bilkiss as Senior Vice President of business development and licensing, and Ray Davis as Senior Vice President of engineering.

Why it matters

Driscoll stated, "This division launch marks a meaningful evolution in how we think about games—not as an extension of our business, but as a core pillar of our content strategy alongside film, television, and streaming." He reiterated the commitment to creating exceptional games for all player types, from casual to triple-A, and to building enduring experiences across Paramount's beloved IP and original worlds that enhance fan engagement and drive long-term growth. The overarching goal is to create great games that also serve as platforms for franchise growth and vibrant fan communities.
