Meta launches Horizon Create and Horizon Studio for AI game creation
Key takeaways
- Horizon Create is a mobile app for describing, generating and refining games on phone
- Horizon Studio is a browser editor for visual scene edits, asset swaps and script tweaks
- Projects move between Create and Studio without losing assets, systems or history
- Published games can distribute on Facebook, Instagram and Horizon; access via an early access waitlist
Meta has launched Horizon Create and Horizon Studio, two AI-driven tools that let creators build complete 2D and 3D mobile games using natural-language prompts. Horizon Create is a standalone mobile app where users can describe a game idea, play the generated result and refine it directly on their phone from a blank canvas or templates, with support for multiple simultaneous projects.
Horizon Studio is a browser-based editor that opens up more granular controls: visual scene editing, asset swapping, script-parameter adjustments and manual layout shaping. Both tools use the Meta Horizon Engine’s agentic creation features and can produce games with progression systems, balanced difficulty, art direction and multiplayer support. Crucially, projects can move between Create and Studio without losing assets, systems or iteration history.
Published games created with the tools can be distributed across Facebook, Instagram and Horizon. Meta said discovery will favour titles that are engaging, stable and culturally relevant, and creators can monetise through in-game options plus the Meta Horizon Creator Fund. The tools are currently in testing and wider access will roll out through an early access waitlist.
Why it matters
If you want the practical upshot: you can prototype and play a game entirely on your phone, then shift into a browser workspace to fine-tune visuals, scripts and layouts, and still publish to Meta’s surfaces with built-in monetisation routes — all while keeping your project history intact.
