Fortnite Hits Over 1 Million Daily App Store Installs Post-Return
For the first time, Fortnite has surpassed one million daily downloads on the App Store, achieving a peak of over 1.2 million installs on May 30th, 2026. This milestone follows Fortnite's global return to Apple's platform on May 19th, 2026, after a prolonged legal battle. Within its first month back, the game amassed an impressive 11.5 million downloads.
The surge in downloads during the initial weeks was significant. Fortnite's first week back was its fourth-best ever on the App Store, achieving download levels not seen since 2018. The second week saw even greater demand, with nearly 5 million installs recorded between May 26th and June 1st. Following that, the game garnered 2.5 million installs in the third week and 1.1 million in the fourth.
Previously, Fortnite's daily downloads had peaked at 764,000 shortly after its initial release on March 18th, 2018, and had not exceeded 750,000 since then. The recent comeback has been particularly driven by players in Saudi Arabia, which accounted for nearly 2.9 million of the total installs, representing 25% of the global downloads. Mexico followed with almost 2.3 million installs, while the UK contributed 733,000 downloads. Interestingly, the US ranked fourth at 629,000 downloads, despite regaining access to the game in 2025.
Why it matters
In terms of revenue, Fortnite generated an estimated $3.9 million in its first month back on the App Store. The US led spending, contributing $2.6 million, followed by Japan at $198,000 and Mexico at $179,000. Player spending peaked at $208,000 on June 12th, reflecting a rise from $79,000 on its release day. This peak in spending coincided with the addition of new items to the in-game shop, including characters Pomni and Jax from The Amazing Digital Circus web series. Earlier this year, Fortnite also collaborated with HoYoverse's Honkai: Star Rail, further expanding its reach.
