Super Shark Launches RPG-Cobo for 3D RPG Development Without Coding

Super Shark has unveiled RPG-Cobo, a new tool designed for creating 3D role-playing games without any coding knowledge. Announced on October 5, the company has already initiated beta testing for this intuitive platform that aims to democratize game development. RPG-Cobo packages all the essential tools for RPG creation in one solution, featuring modern graphics capabilities such as PBR rendering, global illumination, and post-effects. This enables developers to create intricate and immersive worlds that were previously challenging to achieve with standard RPG development tools.

The user interface is tailored for beginners, enhancing accessibility while allowing experienced developers to work more efficiently. A standout feature is the event editor, which enables users to construct game mechanics and narratives simply by arranging commands; even complex instructions can be easily modified through an intuitive settings panel. The map editor provides access to over hundreds of voxel materials, allowing users to assemble maps like building blocks, while also supporting the creation of HD-2D style maps popularized in recent games.

Terrain and building blocks are designed to seamlessly integrate with the surrounding environment, and the tool includes various blocks with special functions, such as doors and ladders. RPG-Cobo also boasts extensive features for resource management, enabling users to modify voxel-based characters and map objects, create effects, and manage in-game characters, items, and rules through a visual database. An AI-powered multilingual translation feature further enhances the usability of the tool.

Once completed, games can be exported to multiple platforms including Windows, web browsers (WebGL), iOS, and Android. The free 'Free License' supports only WebGL output, while the paid 'Indie License' adds support for Windows output. The top-tier 'Pro License' includes mobile output functions and additional features for Steam. Pricing details for the paid licenses will be announced later.

Why it matters

RPG-Cobo is spearheaded by Yutaka Oowada, a founding member of CyberStep, who previously led the development of titles like GetAmped, Guichamp, and Terrabit. After leaving CyberStep in 2024, he has dedicated his expertise to developing RPG-Cobo, aiming to establish it as the premier tool for creating a globally recognized RPG experience. The ongoing beta test, which began on October 5, is open to all participants through the official special site, with feedback and improvement requests being collected via the official Discord server. Additionally, a contest offering prizes and benefits for beta testers is planned for the future.
